The dinner field guide · 01

Choose a slow-cooker dinner that fits your day.

A short prep time is only one piece of the plan. Start with when you want to eat, how many people you're feeding, and what the full recipe asks you to do.

Make the choice smaller

Three checks before you shortlist.

01 / Timing

Work back from dinner.

Compare the publisher's total time, then read which slow-cooker setting it uses. Five minutes of prep can still mean several hours until dinner. Time for rice, pasta or another side may be separate.

On MealNorth: use "Ready in" for a total-time limit. The figure is a recorded source estimate, not a promise.

02 / Servings

Match your table.

Use the listed servings as a starting point. Consider whether you're adding sides or want another meal from the recipe. Portion sizes vary, so open the source before deciding on quantities.

On MealNorth: "Serves at least" narrows the list. It doesn't scale ingredients, cooker size or cooking time.

03 / The method

Read past the title.

A slow-cooker recipe can still ask for browning, a separate pan or a finishing step. Read the complete ingredient list and method before shopping or deciding it's hands-off.

On MealNorth: an incomplete equipment list won't pass "Use only what I have." Missing facts mean unknown.

Finding the currently available slow-cooker recipes…

The cards use the same source-permission checks as Discover. Images are inspiration photographs or original illustrations, not photographs of the publisher's recipe. MealNorth hasn't independently cooked or tested these recipes, and publisher timings may change.

One last look

A useful dinner plan ends
at the original recipe.

Before you start, check ingredient quantities, the specified cooker size and setting, and all preparation and finishing steps. For food allergies or dietary needs, check the complete ingredients and product labels yourself; discovery tags aren't a safety assurance.
